I didn't like it at all, it made me feel ill. It did nothing for my anxiety, depression or mood swings. It made sick to my stomach, & have severe headaches. I quit using it just as fast as I started. If there's anyone who used it sucessfully and it helped them. I would like to know about it. Thanks DEBRA Rincon Lopez in Portland Oregon USA. (Debrinconcita)
I have been on Effexor XR 150 mg for 11 years. I have tried switching to a couple of others (Cymbalta, Pristiq) but I would always end up going back to Effexor XR. I have struggled with major depression nearly my entire life. This is the only medication that has been consistently effective. I can honestly say, without Effexor XR, I probably wouldn't be here today.
I have been on effexor for exactly one year now. 150 mg once a day. After starting effexor, I had irregular periods and have now stopped having periods all together. Can this be a cause of effexor? I know loss of sexual drive is a side affect and I certainly have lost all drive for sex. :( My husband and I used to be VERY sexually active and now it is a struggle for me to makelove to him just once a month. Any advice for increased lobido and any answers about stopped periods?
Thanks so much,

Scary post...I have been on effexor xr for years now 150Mg x 2 daily, I was reading the possible side effects I can attest to some, complete lost of libido thats for shure and I find that this medication is not helping anymore, I never heard of withdrawl effects with antidepressant at least not as I understand them.
I have talk with the Doctor about changing medication but I had the feeling that I wasnt heard, further more I have a heart condition and I'm diabetic.
I also take seroquel which increases the level of sugar in the system, sometimes I feel like a walking drug store.
