Mine too is a long story.I have had the same feeling since Dec.I woke up one morning & felt like something was hung in my throat & lump feeling. Now its turned into the feeling of its hard to swallow.I have been back in forth to Drs & had the scope done & cat scan & my ENT said it was acid reflux. He put me on Nexium & Zantac.Well,i have now been on this for 2 months & no improvements. If not anything it feels worse.THis is the worse feeling in my whole life to feel like there is something in my throat sensation. He also put me on valium.I'm not crazy,i just want this feeling to go away!! I'm 27 years old & feel like i will die if i have to live the rest of my Life with this.My husbund thinks i'm crazy.I would do anything for one day for him to feel this sensation so he would be supportive.I have 2 small kids & i cant even function!!!I try to describe it as if you were fixing to start to cry & you get choked up/ well for me that feeling never goes away.Only when i'm sleeping at night. All i do is pray to God that he can heal this.Truly i have given up that nothing is going to happen at this point. To know you have been going through this for 9 years is painful to hear.My 4 months is minor to you.I just hope & pray i can be healed & you as well!

I've read up on this for many years and have talked to many people via e-mail about their peoblem and what you are discribing are the classic symptoms of globus from stress or anxiety.  Its good to get checked out for other problems like the reflux or maybe

throat spasms or see an allergist to check for allergies.  Not the ENT but an Allergist. Only see the ENT for throat related things because even if he treats allergies he will just give you a pill.  Shots are the best option and have no side effects.

The reason I also say yours sounds like globus is because you said you woke up one morning like that.  Mine started because my uvula was elongating, I had it partially surgically removed then I was fine for nine or so months and then this other feeling came.  Mine may be more physiological because of the stress i went through back then, so it may be a form of globus. But if you just woke up that way it may be globus hystericus, can't spell it.  See a Christian Psychiatrist if possible because if you are going to take medication he is more studied with what works.  It does not mean you are crazy. GAD, that is anxiety, is a common problem.  Once you rule out all physical potentials then accept that it is globus so you can start healing from this. Please research the psychiatrist before you see him.  I studied psychology for a very short while but long enough to know that there are some waco doctors out there. But there are very good ones too.  Pray and ask God for guidence.  You may e-mail me at ze1030@yahoo.com if you need more info or need prayer or to just vent.  By the way, zanax xr 0.5 mg is a very low does anxiety medication that slowly releases into the blood stream.  Try not to get the regular xanax which is good but can be addictive. Ask for the Zanax XR.  See a regular doctor to help direct you and figure out solutions.  Your ENT is not a regular doctor he is a specialist for ear nose and throat and thats it. By the way if any doctor wants to put you on an antidepressent I have some experiance with that too. My regular doctor put me on it and I had bad side effects. The Christian based Psychiatrist told me to listen to him about the medication and not take an antidepressent but I went with my regular doctors advice.  In my case, I should have listened to the Psychiatrist.  he told me i'm not depressed so i don't need an antidepressent even like Lexapro.  those work great for some people i have friends who think its great. But for some like me it was not a good idea.

Hi, I realize there are no posts to this for a while. I have the feeling of a lump in my throat and a dryness on the right side of my throat. My toungue seems to have a strange feeling too, just in the very back on the right side. I have seen my ENT dr. He looked inside with his scope and only saw some irritation. He thinks it could be gerd. I don't. I think it is anxiety because it comes and goes. I have had it for 2 months now. It drives me crazier than anything. I need releif soon.
