Mine is a long story, I've had a sensation in my throat for 9 years and it never goes away it just eases up from one part of the day to the other. Night time It eases up most of the time. I had anxiety once in a while those past 9 years but have been able to function until this past week. I want to know what this sensation is. Mine is similar to what all of you have been saying I guess, but I've not really had my throat checked other than a few office scopes by an ENT over the years, nexium and one CT scan.
I started having anxiety because of this thing this past week all of a sudden. For the first time i have been perscribed lexapro not because of the sensation but because I told the doctor I am depressed. I started crying in her office. I still can't believe I did that but I am not ashamed because I know it's depression and anxiety. The sensation I have is different than what I have been reading in that in moves from one side of the throat to the other and it varies in size. It is mostly one single sensation although once in a while it feels like it splits into two for a little while then goes back to one sensation. it can move to middle back of throat or move from one side of throat to the other side of the throat once in a blue moon even touching my tongue. I look with a flash light sometimes and see nothing. Sometimes its up near the hard palet not on hard palet but in back of the throat all the way back. Although once in a while it has felt like its on hard palet but not many times. It can feel from anything like a pop corn kernal to a sharp dry gland to a round puffy gland to a pebble or a small bone. IT CHANGES SHAPES OR TEXTURES! or so that's what it feels like. In nine years i've never felt so depressed, But before I will think I have globus I will need to rule out other things with scans and thyroid (again) and I still have my tonssilles and allergies so maybe that could be it. No doctor has ever mentioned globus to me yet, but I assume if nothing is found that I will hear that word come up.
I read here that Lexapro may help, so if it is globus my sensation should lessen a whole lot or go away while I am taking it. That would be a blessing, then I will know what the heck this is and ge it resolved! Oh, one thing....I've never had trouble eating because of fear of choking if what you mean by "choking" is not breathing that is. I've not been able to eat much latley but thats because I get full fast or like pressure in my chest I guess. I'll keep you all posted on what happens or what I find out. Comment here if you would please or e-mail me at ze1030@yahoo.com

throat spasms or see an allergist to check for allergies. Not the ENT but an Allergist. Only see the ENT for throat related things because even if he treats allergies he will just give you a pill. Shots are the best option and have no side effects.
The reason I also say yours sounds like globus is because you said you woke up one morning like that. Mine started because my uvula was elongating, I had it partially surgically removed then I was fine for nine or so months and then this other feeling came. Mine may be more physiological because of the stress i went through back then, so it may be a form of globus. But if you just woke up that way it may be globus hystericus, can't spell it. See a Christian Psychiatrist if possible because if you are going to take medication he is more studied with what works. It does not mean you are crazy. GAD, that is anxiety, is a common problem. Once you rule out all physical potentials then accept that it is globus so you can start healing from this. Please research the psychiatrist before you see him. I studied psychology for a very short while but long enough to know that there are some waco doctors out there. But there are very good ones too. Pray and ask God for guidence. You may e-mail me at ze1030@yahoo.com if you need more info or need prayer or to just vent. By the way, zanax xr 0.5 mg is a very low does anxiety medication that slowly releases into the blood stream. Try not to get the regular xanax which is good but can be addictive. Ask for the Zanax XR. See a regular doctor to help direct you and figure out solutions. Your ENT is not a regular doctor he is a specialist for ear nose and throat and thats it. By the way if any doctor wants to put you on an antidepressent I have some experiance with that too. My regular doctor put me on it and I had bad side effects. The Christian based Psychiatrist told me to listen to him about the medication and not take an antidepressent but I went with my regular doctors advice. In my case, I should have listened to the Psychiatrist. he told me i'm not depressed so i don't need an antidepressent even like Lexapro. those work great for some people i have friends who think its great. But for some like me it was not a good idea.
