Accepting anxiety depends on the type of anxiety you have. If it is unoticable to others such as fear of driving on a certain street or a fear of dying it can be hidden easier. Try a fear of losing control of bodily functions such as diarrhea and passing gas with a horrible smell. Its embarrassing, shamefull, and dibilitating. Not at all excepted or talked about by society. How do you live with that type of anxiety and function in situations such as work, relationships, etc. Sure you can laugh at it but how many people think its funny when they there next to someone who passes the smelly gas?

About the diarrhea thing I get it. But this book is aimed at targeting the process of managing anxiety. Managing the anxiety can help the person become more able to function. Will it solve the source of the problem always? No, but sometimes it's either learn to deal with it, or let it weight you down. This book can help make that choice easier.

Some of these factors include how well a person copes with these issues, how severely the person is affected and of course what particular types of stress management skills the individual employs.
