Could not have said it better.

 

As a person who has lived with panic disorder for over 35 years, perfectionism was a major trigger for me.

 

No one could live up to my standards. And when I could not live up to my standards, something or someone else was always to blame.

 

Fortunately, this house of cards finally came crashing down. In therapy I learned how my perfectionism got wired-up. Once I could see the big picture, the behavior that needed adjusting became obvious. 

 

I can't say my perfectionism is zero, but it's down to a level where I don't trigger on it, and I don't foist it on my friends and family.  About the only time it comes in handy is dealing with telemarketers. Smile

I think you'll have peaked the interest of thousands with that comment about dealing with telemarketing! Seriously, it's good that you've managed to resolve some of those issues because, as we both know, perfectionism isn't just about challenging a form of behavior it runs much deeper into who you are as a person and what drives you. Making a change so it's big enough to see and feel can be quite a turn around.
