Hi - your source of anxiety with procedures is entirely understandable and perfectly normal. Sometimes it can help to structure your thoughts and jot down the things that are the most troubling. The obvious things, for example, might be a lack of understanding about the procedures, whether you will feel pain, or what the implications of the procedures may have on your personal life.

Anyone who has control lifted from them feels vulnerable. The more knowledge you have the more mastery you will feel over what is going on. I would suggest you ask all the questions you want - right down to what those strange smells are that only hospitals seem able to generate. Men are particularly bad at expressing their anxieties to others - but I would. I think once you put your faith in your health profesionals you will get at some of the reassurance you are seeking.

    Hope this helps a little
