I've been reading this book called HAPPINESS NOW! by Robert Holden. It's a wonderful read and Holden provides practical advice on being happy. He does this with anecdotes, stories, personal experience (his own and people he's helped) and by explaining why so many of us fall into depressive and anxious states of mind.
The book is not filled with a bunch of hard to understand clinical terms or over simplified ways "to get over it," but has a good balance of science, philosophy, religion, and experience that helps the reader understand why it is he or she is unhappy. And it's all easy to understand.
