Hello to all.
This SharePost was inspired today by a very rude and insensitive answer I received from a question I posted earlier this week. I am no expert, but I have done a lot of reading and research on the things that affect me. Knowledge is the key to trying to understand how to fix a problem with ones self. In my research I discovered that you can indeed be depressed and anxious at the same time as well as have GAD and OCD together. It seems that most individuals do have some other issue along with anxiety. I personally have ADD and GAD. This is called "comorbidity". http://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/549973 Some people know this and some do not. It is important to discuss all things going on in your head and the physical symptoms you are having with your Psychiatrist, Psychologist or what ever form of therapy you decide upon.
Also , make sure you discuss all medications including OTC and herbal supplements with your doctor as well as new ones prescribed or side effects that you may have questions about. Drug interactions are very serious and sometimes even professionals overlook them. Sometimes its best to do your own investigations into what will and will not work together. It can be a fatal mistake not to read all literature dispensed with medications.
I posted a question on this site hoping to get some insight about some personal issues and I did from a very nice and professional Psychologist. However I also received a really uneducated and extremely rude answer from a nonprofessional. Yes, Nexium did indeed become the key factor in taking my mothers life. She struggled with anxiety for years but never once really complained to any of the family. She was on 30mgs of Valium daily and never abused it or misused it. She had taken Valium since the early seventies up until her death in 2004. Nexium is a proton pump inhibitor and one of the side effects of it is sometimes respiratory infection. The respiratory infection along with the fact that it increases sedative side effects caused her to ultimately die from respiratory collapse. A fine example of drug interaction.
I hope that most individuals on this site are here for serious concerns and possible aids to help fix some of their own mental issues. It seems that a lot of questions are aimed mostly at subjects like, " Can I pass a drug test if I have taken Xanax? or " What does this pill do to make me feel good?" Getting high is not the goal of most of us, it is to try to live day to day feeling as normal as possible. I realize that some questions may seem strange or made up, but if you believe they are then just ignore them. Judging and insulting someone is not helpful and that is not what this site is suppose to encourage.
Thank you for reading and good luck with your progress in your own fight with any mental illness you may face,
