About Me

I am a licensed psychologist in Chestertown, Maryland and a senior partner in a group mental health practice, which serves children, adolescents and adults who are experiencing a wide spectrum of emotional and psychological difficulties. I received a Doctor of Psychology degree from Baylor University in 1984 and have been in practice since that time. In my daily practice, I work mostly with adults in individual psychotherapy of depression, anxiety, relationship difficulties and trauma-related disorders.

In 1988, my first wife, Colleen, was diagnosed with breast cancer. It was through our experiences as she fought the disease, and her eventual death in 1990, that I was also inspired to work with individuals diagnosed with cancer. The opportunity to provide assessment and counseling to adults with cancer, and their family members, began when I became the director of the Kent and Queen Anne's Hospital Cancer Counseling Program. It now continues through a close working relationship with oncologist David Smith, M.D. in Chestertown and Easton, MD.
