I am really amaze by the number of people who self-medicate not with the illicit drugs but with what there physician as prescribe them. Some will boost the posologie, others will keep ''left overs'' from a prescription or try the mediction of a friend or familly member. This kind of attitude is VER...

i think you should take medicines as prescribed. as far as self medication -- it is fine as long as you know what you are doing -- how it works for you & is not illegal! you can rely on what u'r body is telling you for the most part. or go PAY another doctor to tell you the same thing. right?

I couldn't agree more. It can be very dangerous to take medication other than as prescribed or take someone else's medication.

Thanks for reminding everyone how important this is.

I had recently run out of my script of xanax and the side effects or withdrawal of not having it for 10 days was even worse.  I was very ansy, anxious edgy but could nt get a new script until I called and had to have the script from the psyciatrist mail it to me which takes 3 to 3 days or the option of driving 45 minutes to pick up script in person.

I waited for it to arrive in the mail, I have had to resort to the wait but I am to take 1mg. 3x's a day which in order to function I can only take a 1/2 tab in order to drive or function,  However I do take more @ night in order to sleep.  I have discussed it w/ my therapist my consern that I may be coming addicted.  My next appt. will discuss this issue.  My anxiety escalates depending on the situation and circumstances of the day.

I try to split and use sparingly it does consern me.
