My Son - My Loving Son

I am a mother of three, the youngest being my one and only son.  He's a good man, a family man with two children.  After his second tour to Iraq his marriage fell apart due to the loneliness these families spend apart from their loved ones serving our country.  Nick had custody of the children, remarried and once again got deployed to Iraq.  After months and months of cousseling and pills after pills the army decided to give Nick a medical discharge and would be able to be cared for by the VA. He asked for help over and over and nothing was ever done.  In fact his meds were even being cut.  It has only been since the very end of January and my baby is now sitting in a prison waiting to be trailed on a double murder.  He is a proud soldier, a loving husband and caring father.  We have always been proud of our son.  As the months became years, Nick was changing.  He was becoming very distant, quiet and you could see fear and hurt in his eyes.  He knew he wasn't exactly right.  He would wake up having nightmares and sweating and you could see the depression getting worse.  He would go to the VA for whatever help he could but it just wasn't working and no one seemed to care.  Our life has now come to a stand still.  My baby isn't a murderer but a kind loving man.  There doesn't seem to be a anywhere we can turn to find him help.  If we were to sell everything we have and everything my families have, it still wouldn't be enough money for the attorney.  So please take my advice.  If you have a soldier you feel might be suffering from PTSD find him or her help as fast as you can, otherwise your lives will never be the same either.  I would appreciate any advice any one has out there and I will be praying for all the innocent people who lost their lives and all the innocent soldiers who were there in our time of need.

Thank you for your post. I am so sorry for the struggles your family is experiencing right now.

Although I am sure you have researched PTSD, I am providing you with some links that might be of help:

I am sorry I could not be of more help. Please know that my heart aches for you and your family and my prayers will be with you.
