Hi,
I am a 48 year old female and have had anxiety attacks and panic for many years off and on.
I have xanax always in reach if I need it. But usually a prescription lasts me a long time.
lately however I am very concerned and want to know if anyone can give me some advice.
I have surgery on Tuesday 7/27 and I am in anxiety for the passed few days and can't shake it.It is totally out of control and the doctor's don't seem to care.
I am terrified of the anesthesia, I am terrified of not having control, I am terrified that I don't wake up.
Can anyone help me please?

Hey there
If there is anyone to understand this fear...it is me. I loathe going to the doctors and surgery...is very frightening to me too. It is that loss of control and trust...it is very hard.I can tell you that before a minor surgery I had...I was pleading with the docs not to kill me. It almost seems funny now...almost.
Tell us about your surgery...what are you going in for? Do you have details about how long you will be under? What helps me is to understand exactly what will be going on with the surgery...how long it takes...all the details. You have to think...these docs are there to help you...they don't want any problems either. They will work hard to prevent any complications.
Sometimes it is worse when you have so much time ahead to ruminate on the upcoming procedure. It will be good to have some distractions. Just think that worry is not going to do anything good for you.
