ADD in school can be the worst experience ever! Especially if the case comes with conduct disorder, or anxiety. I know because I went through it. Because I thought impulsively, I was bullied. Soon I started retaliating to the teasing, I was sent to the office many times. It could be as little as saying something to purposely hurt someone, to as serious as threatening kids with broken pencil sharpener...
To be honest, life in school was living hell and my brother made it worse. All kids with a disability need extra attention, or help, but most of all love and understanding. Learn more about their disability and help them out of ruts.
(P.S. Sorry if I offend anyone by saying hell...)

It is good that you have a goal. I wanted to be a writer through my school years but got sidetracked with other jobs, children, etc. Finally, when I was 40 I was paid to write articles and when I was 50 I had my first book published. I have now written 3 books (The Complete Idiot's Guide to Adult ADHD, The Essential Guide to Overcoming Obsessive Love, The Essential Guide to Asperger's Syndrome). I tell you this to let you know to never give up your dreams and goals. Keep working toward them and you will make it!
Maybe you could write about your experiences in middle school. It is good to write about what you know.
