Anxiety Medications and Pregnancy

I looked up some information regarding anxiety medications during pregnancy and the best article I found was on the Anxiety Disorders Association of America entitled Pregnancy Raises Concern for Women with Anxiety Disorders.

According to the article, SSRI medications, often used for anxiety treatment, have been found to be safe in pregnant women. The article indicates that women should not need to have to choose between anxiety treatment and having children.

i talked to my doctor and he did some research on anxiety meds and pregnancy he said the only one that has really been studied and found to be safe is Prozac and unfortunatly i came off that medication because it didn't work for me so he said the only choice i have is to wean off the citalopram even though he doesn't think thats a good idea i guess i need to do what i need to do.

Hi ambrly,

-too soon for agoraphobia of course but agoraphobia can develop from the chronic anxiety. As for myself I can remember running away from school on my first day at 5 yrs and hated school ever after! My agoraphobia developed to its worst at eighteen years but at that time I was cured.

I am now 72 yrs old having counseled for the past eight years as author of 'The End of Fear', the only self-help manual e-book offering permanent cure for agoraphobia.

i know it seems a bit odd but i tell you i've been like this since i was little...of course it got worse the older i got. i think i hit my all time low in my twenties..when i was in a bad relationship in another country with no support from anyone...i finally did something about that after i got pregnant i decicded to go back home and here i am now doing better i'm married to a good man and everything is going great. i'll have to take a look at that website thanx i'd give anything to be outgoing like i've always wanted to be.Im tired of being afraid of everything!

i met him on some dating site i found.....wasn't really looking for anyone to marry but i knew i loved him and was going to be with him the rest of my life.he felt the same it took him forever to admit it....but he has helped me through everything we've been together for about 8 yrs now...what can i say he'd do anything for me he loves me more than anything he says we'll get through this together he's here for me no matter what.
