i came home from vacation on monday night and was keyed up, and my mother-in-law gave me one 0.5mg xanax. i forgot i will be drug tested on friday for a job, and i am afraid it will still be in my urine. does anybody know how long one xanax takes to get out of my urine? thanks

I have been told by my therapist that xanax has a half life... Having said that the dosage you were given is pretty potent as I have been perscribed xanax and take it daily. Unfortunatley I don't know if it would show up in a drug test. I agree w/ Eileen you should never take medication that is not perscribed to you, where I live you are required to sign a form to not give, sell any script such as xanax and other controlled substance...
My advise is to speak with your dr. about the possiblity of anxiety and how long it stays in the system.

As far as whether the medication will show up in a drug test, that would be impossible to answer. People metabolize medications at a different rate, so there is no exact answer on how long the medication will be there. That said, drug tests are very different, based on the needs of the person or company requesting the tests. Often, specific substances, such as marijuana or cocaine, are tested for and other substances are not. Without knowing what was requested, it would be impossible to say whether the medication will show up.
