Criteria for an anxiety diagnosis includes constant worry, stress and anxiety that lasts more than six month. The patient must exhibit physical and mental symptoms of anxiety. A psychiatrist or psychologist are the experts in diagnosing and treating an anxiety disorder. It's important to also consult a general physician to rule out the possibility of other diseases that could have similar symptoms as GAD.
