Carolyn - Ideally it would be best for you to talk directly to his doctor and find out why Elavil is being prescribed. Elavil's primary uses are for depression and anxiety. Occasionally it will be prescribed for sleep because it can be highly sedating and at times it is used for relief of chronic pain. It also has other uses but I could not see the connection to a prostate condition.
