Delynn - I am not a physician but work with lots of folks who take antidepressant medications for anxiety. I am curious about the switch to Effexor and how that decision was made. If your M.D. is overseeing the change simply follow his or her instructions. Deciding how to accomplish the switch really depends on how long you have taken Lexapro 20 mg., whether you took it consistently, any sensitivities you have to medications, and your general health. That's why having your primary supervise this is important.
