Hi Jonny,
You haven't given us much information to go on, if you'd like to write back and tell us more about yourself and your drinking patterns, please feel free to do so.
You can read about alcoholism on Health Central, which will describes symptoms, treatment, and the prevention of alcohol dependence.
You might want to also check out the Alcoholics Anonymous website.
Regards,
Jennifer L. Fee, Psy.D.
Jonny - I agree with Jennifer that we'd need more info to answer this question. However, it is important to know that many people who drink abusively have underlying anxiety disorders that respond temporarily to the sedating effects of alcohol. If you know that anxiety and worry are characteristics of yours when you are not drinking you may want to see a mental health professional for a more thorough assessment.
