From what you have said, you no longer want to be friends with someone but you feel he will not take it well and will continue to bother you. This sounds like a normal concern as it is never easy to end a friendship, however, if this is something you feel needs to be done, the best thing may be to be honest and let him know how you feel.
If you feel you are in danger, then you should speak with the police.
