Is there an established connection between anxiety meds & high cholesterol? I have been taking Lexapro for 6 weeks & my cholesterol count has spiked 40 points.

That is not a prominently advertised side effect of the drug.  I assume that your doctor noted the sudden spike in cholesterol (or is it coincidental that you simply had a cholesterol profile done at this time and could the spike have been occuring over a period of time) and I assume he knows you started this drug - what did he say?  If your emotional state is more balanced thanks to the Lexapro - have you suddenly developed a significant appetite and could that be responsible for the spike?? Are you on any other medications that could be causing this spike??  I would discuss the issue with my doctor
