Q: what would a disorder of bipolar disorder on top of ptsd be called in the psychiatric society? besides a mental illness if there is a term!!!!

i have bipolar on top of ptsd.... its a real beauty but very treatable

Thank you for your question and welcome to Health Central's Anxiety Community.

 

I don't believe there is a specific name for PTSD and Bipolar other than being called "comorbid" or "co-existing conditions." This means that each condition is a separate condition but that they can both exist alongside each other.

Hello Paul

 

Can you tell us how you are treating your Bipolar Disorder and PTSD?  I am sure other members would like to hear how you manage these two disorders.  I believe that PTSD can co-occur with many other mental illnesses and mood disorders as Eileen has mentioned.
