Q: is it really such a bad thing to have?

i find my self obsessing over all kinds of things. i dont think its all that bad. for instance, i wont let my husband help me around the house because everthing has to be done a certain way. i cant put on a pair of jeans without having socks on first. and when i take a shower i have to do everything in the same order all the time. is this stuff normal or is it just me? is that ocd or just being really picky?

Casey,

Some of the symptoms you mention could be OCD.  If it would cause you anxiety to do things in a different order or if you have a fear that something bad might happen thaen it could be OCD.  I would suggest that you ge an evaluation from a mental health professional that specializes in OCD.  There are some very effective treatments for OCD including medications and cognitive behavioral therapy.  To find out more information about OCD you could contact the Obsessive Compulsive Foundation.  You can also find a therapist at www.abct.org or www.adaa.org.
