hi shirley,

i too take 0.5mg of ativan daily.  they say up to 3 times a day, yet i usually take 1 - 1 1/2 only with half 25mg. zoloft which keep me so tired all day.  the ativan itself does help, although they say it is only a cover up to a sore, and not actually treating the problem.  but it works big time.  i know it is highly addictive, but this is something usually worked out by u and your doc in the end.  if u must take anything i would say use the ativan and get into a good CBT program if u are not already in one.

if u have a faith, pray and take a stand.  yet your question is about ativan, yes it works.

Dear Shirley,

I take lorazapam(generic for Antivan). I am perscribed to take 2 daily at .5mg for anxiety symptoms. It is part of my long-term maintenence plan from my doctor. It is important to never take more then perscribed. If your anxiety is so that you feel you need to take more discuss this with your doctor. It is important to make it to your doctor appointments and keep notes on how the medication makes you feel. I have the option to not take it if I am busy and handeling my anxiety with the lexapro and busbar I take daily. It is also important that your doctor monitor your blood pressure and blood with tests every so often to make sure your body is not being adversly affected. Comunication with ones doctor and educationg oneself are the best ways to stay on top of anxiety and it's symptoms. As to how long you want or need to be on this medication will be up to you, your doctor, and your body. Take care of yourselfSmilevlbhopes
