Thank you for your question.

Xanax (alprazolam) is a short-acting benzodiazepine, commonly used to treat anxiety. Buspar (buspirone) belongs to a different class of medications (azaspirodecanediones), but it is also used to treat anxiety. In addition, Buspar can be used to treat depression.
