Thank you for your question and welcome to AnxietyConnection.com.

You should not stop taking Cymbalta suddenly and should always stop under the supervision of your doctor. Stopping suddenly can cause symptoms of withdrawal, such as:

  • Dizziness
  • Nausea
  • Headaches
  • Vomiting
  • Irritability
  • Nightmares
  •

If you would like to discontinue taking Cymbalta, talk with your doctor about the best way to do this.

I am currently taking cymbalta 30 mg.. and i've been on it for about 6 months and now trying to get off of it. The withdrawl side effects are horrible I can't go four days with out feeling sick, dizzness, sweating, disorinated, can't sleep and horrible headaches. I am trying to stop it all together and it's impossible. Reply

I have to agree the side effects coming off is horrible, but we have to believe it will get better.  My symptoms, are sweating, muscle spasm, muscle weakness.  Try visiting a chiropractor and see if there is a place that offers neurfeedback.  In Lincoln NE @ First Step offers it.

Hang in there we can beat this.

UndecidedI am currently getting off cymbalta.  I did a step down dose from 60mg to 30mg for 30 days then went every other day for 30 days and then went 2 weeks every 3 day and then every 4 days for 2 weeks.  Took my last one Sept 30.  Experiencing  increase of muscle pain, night & day sweats, muscle spasms.  I am also taking neurofeedback to help.

I would definately under a doctors care go down to the lowest dose which I believe is 20 or 30mg.  I have been off CB for 7 days after being on 30mg for about 8 months.  Felt somewhat tired, a little anxiety but no big deal. Non of the brain zaps and other terrible side effects I often hear other people experience when coming off this drug, thank God.  I also take vitamin D and Fish oil supplements to aid in depression since I have stopped taking CB.  I wish you all the best!!!
