Anxiety and morose, sad thoughts and memories

philnz

I am a 62yr old man who recently had the propeller on a model airplane explode the joint in my thumb, it has had to be fused. The incident kiked off a major depression and anxiety situation. Fluoxetine for depression and lorazepan for the anxiety. I find the Lorazepan very effective in stopping my morbid thoughts. I take no more than 3mg per day and wondered if I could just keep on this medcation or is it addictive?

Thank you for your question and welcome to AnxietyConnection.com.

Lorazepam can be addictive and you should not suddenly stop taking this medication. You should stop only under the direction of a physician. Many times weaning off the medication can eliminate any symptoms of withdrawal.

I am  not a medical professional and would not be able to tell you how long you should stay on this medication. That would be between you and your doctor.
