Thank you for your question. I hope you are doing well. I haven't seen you around the site much lately, glad you are still checking in.

According to the University of Iowa, "Mental stress can make many forms of vertigo worse, but will not, by itself, produce vertigo."

It seems, from that, that the anxiety and stress can contribute to the vertigo, at least so some degree. Is the CT scan to find out about the vertigo or is it for something else

Hello Eileen nice to talk with you as well.  The NP felt it needed to be done to see things that the neurosurgeon only did @ the time of the accident, she wants me to have lab work, then to see a neurologist.  When the vertigo starts it has of lately lasted from a day to a week.  I have for the most part recognized my triggers, lying flat with no neck support, sudden head movements.  It does increase my anxiety as sometimes there are other symptoms that accompany it, such as tingling, my cooridination and balance is off.

Thank you as always for your responce.

I can imagine that these types of symptoms would increase your anxiety. You aren't sure what is going on and  "not knowing" is always scary.

Let me know what happens with the CT Scan and how you are doing.

Hello Eileen,

I got the results of my CT Scan of my head, it is normal.  So while I'm glad for that I am wondering now should I get a second opinion?  The NP had said @ my last appt. she would refer me to a nerologist, if the CT scan shows normal what good will it do to go through with that, but instead ask to be referred to a nose throat and ear dr.

I put in a call to the NP to find out what is the next step????  More questions now, because if it is an inner ear problem or something else I would like to get this vertigo resolved some how.

Hi Dewalt

So your scan was normal?  What were they ruling out with a CT scan?  A CT scan is not an MRI...an MRI can give much more detailed information.  I would follow up by seeing the neurologist just to be on the safe side.  Then you can have peace of mind to rule out neurological causes.

Please let us know what happens.  I am so sorry you are having this symptom.  Vertigo is not fun.

I'm guessing to see if there was any un healed bones, not really sure, but think I will take your advice and get an MRI perhaps there is something they can find that is causing the vertigo.

Thanks for the advice, will keep in touch.
