Q: I work full time and need to be very alert and performance ready. How many days will the sedation feeling last. Could I start Cymbalta on the weekend and feel normal by the following week?

I have nonstop upper neck and back pain due to working att a computer all day.  My dr. recommended cymbalta hoping it may reduce the pain.  I haven't started taking it because I am afraid of feeling drowsy and out of control.  How many days does it take to feel normal after starting the med?

Thank you for your question and welcome to Health Central's Anxiety Community.

I am not a medical professional and would not be able to give you medical advice.

Unfortunately, everyone reacts to medication differently. While feeling tired may be one of the possible side effects of Cymbalta, not everyone experiences this. It would be impossible to say whether you will have a problem with fatigue or how long it will last.
