Q: Does (GAD)anxiety cause muscle tension and high pulse rate? I also find myself grinding my teeth a bit. What will help me relax the most Green Tea, Chamomile Tea or a glass of wine?

I may be going through peri-menopause. Does peri-menopause cause anxiety or does it escalate anxiety?

Thank you for your question and welcome to AnxietyConnection.com.

I am not a medical professional and would not be able to give you medical advice.

GAD can cause the symptoms you described, such as muscle tension and increased heart rate. However, it would be impossible to say whether that is why you are having these symptoms. I would suggest speaking with your doctor. That way you can find out if there is a physical cause (such as menopause) that is contributing to how you are feeling.
