Hi Helen,

I am a psychologist and not a psychiatrist, so yoiu should always discuss your concerns about medication with your physician.  However, with that said, Risperidone is not known to be addictive.  However, this does not mean you should suddenly stop taking it, or discontinue it without being under a physican's care, because you could see a return of your symptoms.

If you would like to read more about taking Risperidone, you can read about it on this US government site.  Again, please consult with your physician.  Tell him/her about all medications (both prescribed and over the counter) that you are taking.  You can also talk to your pharmacist as well!
