I am not a professional, however I have been on xanax on and off for about 2 yrs.  I have had my  dosages increased over time from .025mg to .050mg and now 1mg which I take 3x's a day to help control my anxiety.  Depending on the condition this person is taking this med and dosage,  I can only speak from my own experience, that I have experienced balance problems and remembering things to which I write myself notes to remind me.  I also take an antidepressant so I don't know if it contributes to being off balance at times.  So to answer your question I think it depends on the condition and other factors, hope this helps.
