Tammy,

Most people who overbreathe are breathing incorrectly.  It is most likely to occur when someone breathes too rapidly (more than about 16 breaths per minute) and/or they inhale through their mouth taking in an excess of oxygen.

Dear Tammy - Dr. Tarlow gave you some important info on overbreathing but you also asked about Serzone. Serzone is an antidepressant that is no longer marketed in the U.S. because of a rare but potentially dangerous effect on the liver. You can go to www.drugs.com for information on Serzone and to the MyDepressionConnection.com section at HealthCentral for a list of safer and more commonly used antidepressants. Please confer with your primary physician if you think that you might want to consider taking any of these medications.
