Q: anxiety medication

i have been taking a antianxiety medication since i was 18, (valium for6 years) xanax when i moved and had a different doctor. i have been taking xanax for 26 years. the highest dosage being6mg.-8mg. i did not always take the higher of the dosage, but 2 times i did not take it, and ended up having a siezure both times. (never had a siezure in my life before that). can i have a siezure , by staying ON my medication? i was told by a cna who is trying to wean me down to 4mg xanax daily (which truthfully i am having a hard time at 5 mg.) a little family background, my mom took valuim since i can remember and grandmother took lithium up until the day she passed. is this a hereditary trait? by the way my cna has me taking cymbalta 90mg. daily (and wants to up the dosage). i have never had any problems TAKING xanax, just going OFF xanax, is there a certain dosage where you start having siezures? i was fine when i was taking the xanax for all these years, in fact my husband didn't even know i was taking it, until i was put on his insurance. i know i have a few questions in here, sorry, but i really need answers, before my dosage goes down any further and then i know i will be basket case, becausegoing down to 5mg. has been hard for me. thank you in advance, cindi

Hi Cindi, What I would do if I were you is to figure out what has or is working for you and get with your doctor on this. If something is working for you and he switches it, well that is just wrong.

Another thing you might consider is talking to a nutritionist about your concerns regarding  your medicines and see if there is something you can do to aleviate some of the meds.

Hope this helps,

Pat
