Q: anyone else allergic to ssri's get anxiety help from another drug?

Currently on Buspar, and its not working anymore. Dr doesnt want to prescribe any Benzos which have been the only thing to help in the past. Thanks for your help, and God bless you on your roads to recovery as well.

Thank you for your question and welcome to AnxietyConnection.com.

I am not a medical professional and would not be able to give you medical advice.

However, based on reading literature on anxiety and different medications as well as speaking with many anxiety patients and medical professionals I can tell you that it is impossible to say what medications would be effective for you based on whether other people have had success with them.

Because everyone metabolizes medications in different ways and each person's symptoms are different, some medications will work for one person and not work for another and vice versa. Unfortunately, it is often a matter of trial and error to find the right medication, and the right dosage, for you.

Many people have found that cognitive behavioral therapy is an effective way of treating anxiety long-term and in research has shown to be as effective, if not more effective, than medication. You may want to speak with your doctor about a referral to a specialist in your area that uses this type of treatment for anxiety disorders.

Thank you for your input. I am starting therapy again next week, and finally have a script for Xanax to take the edge off. Too much going on right now :P lol
