Thank you for your question and welcome to Health Central's Anxiety Community.

I am not a medical professional and would not be able to give you medical advice. It would be impossible for me to say whether or not you have an anxiety disorder, this can only be diagnosed by a medical professional.

However, social anxiety disorder can include feelings of extreme nervousness, such as you described, when speaking in front of other people.

You may want to keep track of your symptoms - how you feel and what may have triggered your feelings. This can help you not only talk with a doctor but can help you develop strategies for when you need to talk in front of others.

Not all people treat anxiety symptoms with medication, cognitive behavioral therapy has been shown to be more effective than medication in the long-term. Other relaxation strategies, such as exercise, yoga, meditation, deep breathing have all been helpful for many people.

I would like to share you that I had been consulting to a psychologist for two times in previous two years. 1st in 2009 and 2nd in 2010. In both time he been counseling me about my problem and suggested the use anti-depressions pills. I have been use that pills for about 6 months each year. After then I been totally fit. Then I been leave the medication. But after 2 or 3 months; problem has been begun once again.
Dr. said me that I have a some chemical misbalance in my brain. That's because I will have not to leave medication till I would not be totally fit and as well as I should continue medication till one year after my totally fitness.

My English is not good, but I hope you would be understand my case.

I am glad you are seeing someone for your anxiety. I am sure this helps.

Medication can be helpful in reducing anxiety symptoms but does not cure anxiety, it is important for you to use the time you are taking medication to develop strategies for coping with your anxiety symptoms. For example, some people find that working on cognitive behavioral strategies while on medication gives them specific tools to use to manage the anxiety once they stop taking the medication.

It is important, however, to work together with your doctor and come up with a treatment plan that addresses your specific symptoms and for you to follow up with that plan.
