Q: I take Welbutrin 150XL, Can I take desyrel 50mg as needed to help sleep & avoid additonal anxiety?

I have a prescription for desyrel that read take at bedtime as needed to help with certain events that I was over anxious about.  I take the welbutrin, but occasionally can't sleep due to being upset at home.  Can the two mix?

Hi Peanut,

Thanks for posting. You can read about Desyrel (Trazodone) and it's interactions with other drugs right here on anxietyconnection.com, but I have an important question for you:  Have you asked this question to your doctor(s) who prescribed these meds?  If the answer is "no," I'd encourage you to do so ASAP!  In the meanwhile, you can also ask your Pharmacist.

Also, check out HealthCentral's sleep site for great information about insomnia and sleep hygiene.  Cognitive Behavioral therapy may help you to address what is upsetting you, and Dr. Diana Walcutt and I have a great CD that helps people to go to sleep.
