Q: How long does low dosage zanax stay in the body?

Hello.  I'm curious about how long an occasional, low dosage of zanax would stay in the system.  My mother had given me a few zanax for anxiety.  I got pulled over for speeding and ended up getting charged with posession of a CDS.  Never have been charged with anything like that.  I live with panic attacks, but have recently moved and do not have a doctor.  So I am taking a few drug tests before court, just to show that I don't have some kind of problem.  The dosage I took was .25 mg, and I only took one every 3 or 4 days.  It's been about 4 days since I took one, and my drug test is January 15th.  I just want to know, if someone takes a .25 mg tablet, how long would it take for it to leave the system?  I am 5'6 and weigh 150 pounds, and work out 3 times a week and drink over 100 ounces of water a day.

Thank you for your question and welcome to AnxietyConnection.com.

I am not a medical professional and would not be able to provide you with an answer to this question.

I can tell you that because everyone metabolizes medication at a different rate, the length of time medication stays in the system can vary from person to person.

I would suggest contacting a doctor and discussing your anxiety with him or her.

I am not a medical professional either and one who was would tell you don't take anyone elses meds even if your mommy gives them to you.  To your answer xanax has one of the shortest metabolism and excretion times of any benzodiazipine.  Given the relative dose, number of times taken and time period between last dose and test I think you can rest assured it will not show up. Try drinking lots of water the night before and urinating several times the morning of before you donate.
