Q: Was this early stages of my anxiety problems.

Just wondering. When I was a little girl about eight or nine. I use to say my prayers in the night. At the end I would always say 'god bless and go through all the family and friends names.' at the end I would worry that I missed someone and have to start all over again. sometimes I would go over and over until I fell asleep. I also used to try and say my prayers for the next day to save me doing it in the morning, but then in the morning I would start again for the next day. Was this an anxiety problem or is this a common thing that children do.

Thank you for your question. I am not a medical professional, however, even if I was, it would be impossible to say whether repeating your prayers was an early sign of anxiety. Although anxiety is characterized by extreme worrying, I would think it would need to be present in more situations than nightly prayers. Without a thorough and in-person evaluation, it would be difficult to say whether you had anxiety as a child.

It wasn't just nightly prayers. I used to think about it all day and then It would worry me in the day to think that I missed someone. It used to worry me a lot. I wouldn't have been so bothered if it was just as you said 'nightly parayers'.

I understand that it was not just nightly prayers, however, that is all the information you provided. As previously stated, it would not be possible to determine if you had childhood anxiety based on this information. You would need to have an evaluation completed by your doctor.

I have had an evaluation and have been diagnosed with anxiety and depression . I was just wondering if this had started long ago.
