Does SSRI's make u sleepy? Is this what "reuptake" means when it comes to SSRI's? How can I be checked for adrenal fatigue? I am tired all the time, i have been tested for everything under the book, they tell me i am healthy, i believe it, but i am so tired. I would like to know if this is just what SSRI's (zoloft) do to some people. Although i've been taking only 12.5mg a night, i am seriously tired all morning long. some nights i feel i need to skip a dose because i am so tired from this medication. i stay away from caffiene, sweets (added sugars), red meats, and overall eat very healthy and exercise. i gain some energy (a bit) from the exercise, yet the medication still leaves me tired all day! is this a sign of serontonin syndrome? or what? i would like to know if anyone knows. tricyclics are a no, no they are even worst... are these drugs just synthetic and not good? i wonder, for me and my system anyway. i'm sure they help some, but for some of us they just don't. does anyone know if the FDA is working and looking to help us anxiety sufferers more? where can we gain help?

Yes, SSRI's can make you very sleepy, however that side effect usually goes away during the first few weeks of taking the medication. You are already taking your medication at night, which was going to be my first suggestion. I would encourage you to you talk to your prescriber about possibly trying one of the SSNRI's that are available. These affect the norepinephrine receptors in the brain, which can reduce the feeling of sleepiness some people feel when taking SSRI's.
If you are curious about the possibility of adrenal fatigue or serotonin syndrome, it has been my experience that naturopathic physicians tend to be more open to doing this kind of testing. Also, a lot of them will do neurotransmitter tests, which will show you your neurotransmitter levels. I have found that this is helpful in figuring out what medication might work best for you.
It sounds like you've already done it, but I would also encourage you to get a full physical including blood tests, to rule out any other cause of your fatigue.
