It is scary dealing with "mother nature" because when faced with something like an earthquake or a hurricane, we realize that we have absolutely no control over what nature throws at us. But you do have control over what you do with your day. Keep yourself busy, look for ways you can make a positive change in the world each day, by simply being nice to someone - friends, relatives or strangers - by donating blood or volunteering. Sometimes it helps to know that even if a natural disaster strikes, we will work together to make things better for everyone; volenteering gives us the support and understanding that we are all in this together.
Cognitive behavioral therapy also helps with anxiety, it has actually been shown to be more effective in combatting anxiety in the long-term than medication. You may want to find a therapist in your area to find one who works with this type of treatment.
