Thank you Jerry,
Over a year ago I got a case of hives the size of two silver dollars. Not me or expert Doctors knew what was casing them. There wasn't anything new in my life other then menopause. All we knew was that we needed to get rid of the hives. So, I was given mega doses of prednisone and the hives started going away. I'd started to heal and the nervousness I felt from the inside was calming down.
Then the Docs. started me on the climb down, cutting the prednisone back. When I got to a 1'2 tablet the hives came back, so back up I'd go again to 60 mg. This went on for 8 months, until I was able to come off the prednisone completely.
But, last week the itch started without hives and I'm all broken out again. I have some prednisone left so I started on one table for three days, then I'll cut the tablet in half, and only take a ½ tablet for three days, then 1/4 for three days until I'm able to come off completely.
Right after I took the first tablet the itch was under control and my insides weren't screaming to scratch.
I just don't understand why in the world hasn't there been more research to stop the itch. We have pills to stop headaches, pills to stop back pain, pills to stop vomiting, and pills to control depression, but still after 56 years of my life waiting for them to come up with something for itch, still has not happened. There are millions of people running around with all kinds of skin issues and still it doesn't seem like researchers have gone anywhere.
I have been checked for everything, diabetes, thyroid problems and I'm healthy except for allergies, hay fever and asthma, and menopause.
Living in the country in Bavaria, DE during this time of year doesn't help either.
Suggestions, views, please all are welcome....
