I have been taking that dose for 4 weeks now
Patsy,
Thank you for your question.
For most antidepressants, it takes about 4-6 weeks to see the full effect of the medication. However, each medication effects each person differently, so it may take a little less or a little more time to reach the maximum effect for you. In addition, 225 mg is the maximum recommeded daily dose of Effexor (venlafaxine), so if this dose doesn't work for you, you may want to talk to your doctor about trying another medication.
In response to the above answer, increased blood pressure is a known side effect of Effexor, so your doctor should be monitoring your blood pressure at each visit. You can find more information about Effexor here.
Best of luck,
Casey
oooo my, i was on only 12.5 mg of effexor for 2 1/2 years and it took me 6 months to get off of. i still have spasms from taking that medicine. i don't mean to scare u, and the only issue i had before was a panic attack once or twice a month... which was a lot... once i got off the effexor they were every day.. and now i i'm afraid to even leave the house, and walk up the street to the beautiful park and lake we have. i have sense been really afraid to take any medicines due to this. effexor also caused my blood pressure to go way up -when trying to get off of it. my ex-doctor told me they should take it off the market and they should have never given it to me.. they gave it a nick name 'SIDE EFFEXOR' due to all the side effects when on it, especially when one is trying to come off of it.
it is so sad to say, most doctors today are only reading books, and checking up on statistics and are in with the pharm - ma - suite- ti- calls u know those people who make the drugs and try and turn us all into zombies... its a shame they claim they can make panic attacks go away with this or that, but to gain natural herbs which God has given us and form something for us is un heard of. its really a shame. i hope the best 4 u, and pray u get off that junk (effexor) and u fine solitude.
Love
