Q: Can you buy some type of Anxiety Medication at the local pharmacy - without a Doctor's prescription

Hi Joe,

 

Thank you for your question. I work in a pharmacy, and I'm not aware of any over the counter medications available for anxiety. There are some herbal supplements that have been used for anxiety, but there's no evidence indicating that they actually work. If you are interested in trying an herbal supplement, you might want to look into valerian root or kava. However, be sure to check with your doctor or pharmacist before you start taking it to make sure that it doesn't interact with your other medications!
