what causes the sensation of constant hard blinking?

I feel a constant hard blinking sensation that lasts for hours.  It affects my head. ears and keeps me from being able to concentrate on anything.  I have herniated discs in my neck, is this a sympton of that or is it something else entirely?

I'm not certain about the neurological aspects but the question that occurs to me is whether blinking was an issue before the discs in your neck were herniated?

If the answer is yes it might suggest a severe facial tic. If this is the case it would suggest an anxiety related condition. See this recent posting. Around 20 percent of people with OCD also have tics.
