Q: What are the problems associated with taking ativan , prozac, soma, narc pain pills during preg?

I am currently on quite a few prescription drugs and will experience pretty bad withdrawals if I stop. They include narc pain pills prozac, and ativan. I need these drugs due to health conditions and I am afraid that I may be pregnant. I think an ex bf may have given me a sleeping pill and taken adv of me. Anyway, how bad would it be to have a preg while taking these drugs. I know ativan is coming up as a category d and the pain pills are a cat b but I dont really understand what that means. Could I have a healthy baby? What problems could occur? Would the obgyns be able to tell me what problems the baby would have during the preg so I could decide then?

Thank you for your question and welcome to AnxietyConnection.com.

I am not a medical professional and would not be able to give you medical advice.

I would suggest you immediately make an appointment with your Obgyn doctor and find out if you are indeed pregnant. This would be the first step. If you are pregnant, your doctor would be able to go over the risks associated with these medications while you are pregnant. Your doctor will weigh the risk associated with the medication, on you and your baby, against your need for the medication.
