Thank you for your question and welcome to AnxietyConnection.com.

Unfortunately, I am not familiar with broncial thermoplasty.

You may be able to find more information on this on:

MyAsthmaCentral.com

I am sorry I could not be of more help.

Hey Spiritjohn

This is an asthma related question but I will take a stab at it.

Here is a bronchial thermoplasty  web site which talks about the issues with this procedure:

"Before the bronchial thermoplasty procedure becomes commonplace, there are several issues which have to be overcome. The process still requires refinement, as presently the bronchial tubes that can be effectively treated are the larger ones only. Treating these airways helps of course, but there are many airways for which the procedure cannot yet be used. Expense is also a factor. The cost of the procedure needs to come down considerably before all of those who would benefit from it could afford it. Finally, the jury is still out as far as long term side effects are concerned, however it should be said that the prospect of there not being any significant side effects looks promising."

Oh but here on this official Athmatx site...it seems it was just approved:  May 10, 2010 Asthmatx and Virginia Hospital Center Treat First Patient with Bronchial Thermoplasty Following FDA Approval + More"

Sounds like you can ask your doctor about this!

Good luck to you.
