Q: Are there any foods that interact negatively with Effexor, such as cheeses or juices?

I am not a medical professional and would not be able to give you medical advice.

 

In reading through the prescribing information, itis stated that food did not effect how the medication was absorbed and there were no negative interactions. It is recommended that you do not use alcohol when taking Effexor.

 

I would suggest, however, if you have concerns you speak directly with your pharmacist, he or she would be better able to discuss any foods or drinks that should be avoided when taking this medication.

Hi Sandra, I've been on Effexor for about 6yrs. and I have never encountered a problem with eating or drinking anything.  I eat cheese and drink juice all the time.  Although I can't drink grapefruit juice but that's because I am on Lipitor and grapefruit don't mix.  One thing in life we still can do is eat well.  Sometimes too well I guess.
