Studies have shown that Xanax (alprazolam) immediate release tablets show peak concentrations of the drug in blood plasma after about one to two hours. The average "half-life" of Xanax, which means the time it takes the blood to eliminate half of the drug is 11.2 hours (with a range of 6.3 to 26.9 hours).
Xanax XR is an extended release version of the drug. It has a slower absorbtion rate, in that the body maintains a constant concentration of the drug 5 to 10 hours after you take it. However, studies are showing that elimination of the XR version is about the same as the immediate release.
You didn't say why you asked this question, but if you have taken Xanax recently and are concerned about its effects on your body I urge you to contact your doctor as soon as possible and express your concerns.

As an RN, I am urged to say that Cymbalta is great for depression, anxiety, pain. Clonazepam (Klonopin) is a better long-acting benzodiazapine and does work better than the short-acting xanax.(over time)
Clonazepam had the opposite effect when prescribed to me for anxiety. Intensified my anxiety dramatically with extreme iritability and mood swings. Received a criminal violation while driving on this medication and was the "worst experience of my life". Lingering effects lasted for days and couldn't wait until it got out of my system. Returned to doctor and back on xanax with small controlled doses and looking forward not to relying on any medication of this nature on the very near future.
as someone who took prescribed clonazepam for 3 years, it is one drug that is unbelievable when it comes to withdrawal. if you become addicted, which i did after regular use for anxiety and stress, you will think you have been to hell, if you have to taper off of it quickly. i was tapered down over 10 days because my MD lost his DEA number (now I know he was a pill doctor) and then went through 5 FIVE weeks of hard withdrawal and I am still having small symptoms after 2 months. I've been told it is harder to quit than herion (I don't know this to be true, but it was ungodly). it think a STRONG WARNING should be given with this type of medication. I ended up in the ER one night during withdrawal and the doctor said that my body was in shock. it literally changed my hair from root to tip overnight - no joke. be careful, please.

just wanted to let u know i too was a victim of a doc worryin more about their license than what worked to help keep my chronic pain somewht at bay. i tied reasoning w/ her. she just didnt want to hear it. her license wasso important. the sad part is i had no choice the pain got wore
i am researching something to get off xanax but not because it dosnt work but because of my dr and pain meds .i have mixed reactions about drs and these drugs they r fine together as long as they are used right not abused .thats the catch patients r miss using oding and drs r getting blamed and there goes everyones meds that work its a mess.the drs cant tell by looking at us whos going to take them right or not .but i think they should look at our past behavior of these drugs if u have been on them for 20 years always have the correct count and no issues they should surely be able to justify those meds for us .i am really scared to change there r so many bad articles on the other meds i really just dont know what to do i am getting xanax at this time but am afraid with all the bad press anytime they may change my meds like so many others .i have woke in the middle of the night feeling as if i was dying when i didnt take xanax because they have taken me off several times before and replaced it with other things that just dont work i have ptsd i have since 21 when i had to watch my first husband die .i am now 46 and have been off xanax about 2 years total during all those years usually just a few months at a time till the dr would get it in their heads i needed it . I completely understand in may of last year I gave birth to two baby boys at 28 weeks and 12 hours later my mother in law died of cancer. My baby Daniel died at 25 days in my arms he took his last breath. I am blessed with a five your old little girl and Robert healthy 10 month old smiling baby boy. Cymbalta is making me so sick to my stomach. I have been on Zolft for the past nine months. Now th DOC wants me to stop zolft and just start Cybalta well I am hallusonating, outstanding. My anxiety attaches are to the point i will not leave the house. I don't know what to do. Wish I could breath with you!

I talked to my psychiatrist about this just yesterday. I expressed to her the same concerns about habit formation. She assured me that the doses I was taking should not form too much tollerance for a little while; surely I will not develop tollerance in the two weeks before I am seeing her again.
I am taking about 2 mg a day. If I feel up for it, I take less. If my day is particularlly bad, I take a little more, though I have not needed to take more than 2 mg a day.
Talk to your psychiatrist about this stuff!
from personal experience i had court on the june 4th and then again on the 7th, i had consumed opwards of 50 mgs,yes fifty not point 0 5, and 100mgs of methadone ( DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME) the 4th was a friday and the 7th a monday obviously i was too f*ckd up to take the urine screen on the 4th but it ended up working out to my advantage as i pissed clean for xanax on the 7th but was dirty for methadone although that was a prescribed drug at the time and the xanax won't, but i have a very high metabolism and didn't eat during that period also cept the bare minimum cause i was coming off of 100mgs of methadone a day in jail(not recommended although for me personally it wasn't as bad as i thought it would be)

yeah jail taught me that now that i have a drug conviction on my record it does not matter if i get clean and try to do right cause no one will hire me anyway cause of my record and i still have to make money so i have to do what i have to do mr. high horse

Hi Jennifer. It seems like you know a lot. I suffer from anxiety. I'm on buspar and xanax. I aslo take a 10 mg Valium mabey once every 2 weeks when I can not sleep. I'm aplying to a job and have to take a urine aylises. I know I can bring in my RX bottles and it'll be fine but I feel like it's not their business what I take. Do you know how long Valium takes to get out of your system? I took one 10 mg last thursday the 3rd of march. It's now the 10th of march. Aslo I took 1 mg of xanax yesterday. I can do the UA whenever I want. So I'd like to take it when nothing shows up. I know xanax is pretty much in and out but what about valium? I've heard so many different things. I'm concerned about withdrawing from xanax. I've been taking it for about 7 or 8 yr's now, 1 mg 3x's a day. Today i finally saw a Physiatrist for the first time. She gave me Celexa 20mgs for the depression, and told me i needed to stop the xanax and to take Clonezepam for 1 month to help me withdraw from the zanax, 1mg in the morning and 2mgs at night. Now after looking at info on the clonezepam, i see it's addictive also. I'm sure she knows what she talking about, but it this a normal way to withdraw from a drug?
THIS IS COMPLETELY NORMAL & MOST OF ALL, SAFEST! Stopping xanax abruptly after taking for long periods of time is extremely dangerous! Therefore a detox plan with a good doctor will include, first off, switching the xanax to another benzodiazepine 'benzo' (same class of drugs) med that has a LONGER ACTING HALFLIFE (clonazepam, diazepam, lorazepam, ect) this is for a few reasons; xanax (alprazolam) is an immidiete realease tablet, it is absorbed quickly and also releases from the body faster, needing another dose sooner to prevent 'withdrawl symptoms'. The MOST COMMON medicine a SMART doctor who really knows what they are talking about when dealing with detoxing xanax, will be CLONAZEPAM (klonopin). It is VERY IMPORTANT to follow the doctors EXACT instructions on the AMOUNT consumed and the TIMING of your doses! Over time, you dosage will be slowly tapered from the clonazepam in a SAFE manner. Detoxing from just xanax alone, like I said, is VERY dangerous. Switching to another/different benzodiazepine in the beginning puts you more so in a 'safety zone'! That is the most important! After then, your dosages will be adjusted for the SAFEST DETOX PLAN! The most important is you follow the directions exact! Helpful to KEEP TRACK of your DOSAGE TIMES, how you are FEELIONG, and ANY QUESTIONS you need answered (a daily journal to write everything down)...this greatly helps you and the doctor communicate precisly to get you the BEST and SAFEST results! And as usual, pay very close attention to everything, write it all down. For urgent/immidiate questions, do not wait, call the doctor right away! Sounds like you do have a doctor that DOES 'know what she's talking about'. Best of luck to you!

First off anybody who thinks that Xanax stays in your system for 30 days needs to go back to high school and take chemisrty. Thank you so much for the correct spelling MR. "Zanax". Wrong. I took 11 of the peach xanax (.5mg) and I dropped dirty about 30 days later. I was trying to stay clean from heroin and I hadnt taken xanax in a couple years when I took the 11 of them. I had to go to rehab between 3-4 weeks later and it was a non-medical facility. If you were coming from home, you couldn't drop dirty for benzos, opiates, or alcohol because you withdrawal from those. The morning I left for this rehab, I took an 8mg suboxone not knowing I would drop dirty for opiates because of it. Didn't matter anyway because I dropped dirty for benzos (xanax) too. I had to drive 2 hours back home and try to get into a detox center before transferring back to this rehab. A week later I was back. When I was drug tested again, I was clean from opiates, but still dirty for benzos. Since I was coming from a detox center this time, it didn't matter. I was in complete shock that I was still dirty from the 11 xanax!! This is the honest to God truth. Most websites say 7-10 days for benzos, but every person is different.
Suboxone is used to treat heroin and methodone withdrawls...more comfortably...but it can also be ABUSED just as easily! Please, I urge you, to NOT DRIVE when you are on any type of potent drugs like these...though you may feel normal, maybe even better from the 'high' you get, you are playing with fire! When you are under the influence of these type of drugs, you really have no idea how you change and how much you are impaired. I have been to too many funerals of friends that think they were okay to be a driver, and okay to have passengers...they were obviously wrong, and now its too late to come back to a life, its too late to give back the passenger his lost legs. Im lucky to be alive, but its also too late for me not to have a broken back. At some times I had wished I was dead instead of a life of pain...I asked why did they have to die and not me? Im here for a purpose, and although physically disabled, I hope my own experiences can reach someone, and prevent them the constant agony I endure from losing my best friend...and losing the chance I had at a normal life. You hear stories all the time!...But you never fully understand until lives are sadly taken, could be your friend, family, some else's friend or family, could be you. How do you move on when you have unintentionally taken an innocent life and face jail time? How will your friends and family move on if they lose you? This isn't meant to sound like a harsh coming down on you for having an addiction, addictions are just as serious as diabetes...if you don't treat them, they can kill you. perhaps it's being worded wrong.?..how long will a Xanex (or any/most Benzos) appear as a positive in a U.A.? (Not the actual drug but, the proof that it was in your system. I know with cocaine they look for metabolites, not the actual drug however, I'm unsure with benzos?) Please respond. Thanks
M.D Huh? Xanax has a half life for .5mg of 6-12 hours. And half life means duration in blood to fall the half of the initial value after the first dose. We are talking about EFFECTS here. However as this drug is fat soluble it can be different based on the individual which means that although the drug may be inactive it is still stored and then released over time in the URINE. SO if these people are talking about the effects no you won't have effects for 30 days but if you are talking about detection then you are talking about something entirely different. There is no real way of knowing how long it will show up in a drug screen. Obviously a frequent user will take more time than an occasional user but other factors include weight and your level of activity. If you are a sedentary overweight individual you can take a relative small dose and it can show up for WEEKS after in a urine sample. So maybe Dr. COBB. YOU should go back to your supposed 'medical school' and truly learn some facts. I pity your patients.
hi matthew, i had a question, i HAVE a prescription for xanx 2mg 3 times a day, i took 3 for 3dys in a row and forgot to take it for 2 days and the seond day i didnt take it i had a doctors appt nd they mandatory take a drug test of urine and i di and it was friday and my urin had to sit in the fridge at the doctors office for 2 days and when the results came in i didnt test positive for xanx and now my doctor is accusing me of not takin my meds what gives ? what do you think happened ?
Sorry doc, but you are wrong, I failed a drug test for benzos 16 days after my last xanax.....so it seems it is different for everyone

Thank you so much for clearing up all these wrong answers. I took an ativan and 3 days later tested negative. I took a xanax and tested positive the next day. I have been off the xanax for about 3 days but have taken klonipin to control seizures. I will most likely have a drug test next thursday which is six days away. Do you think I will pass it? I swear if I do I will never take anything else not prescribed because I am in danger of losing my legitimate medication. God knows I dont need to do that because I will be right back out there buying pills and it has been 2 years since I had to do that.
xanax and ativan are the fast acting benzo's they normally take 1 to 3 days for casual users Here are the exceptions if your lazy, fat, have liver issues or have been on them forever. Valium and klonopin can live in the body forever so if you don't get prescribed meds and take tests keep away from them.
Someone said that just don't take them a few days this is ok for a casual user but if you have a habit this is a bad deal.

I to am on Suboxone. I have terrible panic attacks as well. My doctor put me on a very low dose of Ativan. And it helps so much.

It sounds like the person asking has an upcoming drug screening for employment of legal reasons.
I'm no expert but I work in human resources and have had a good bit of experience in passing drug screenings myself. To answer your question, Xanax will likely stay in your system for 48 to 72 hours...if you just took one pill, one day. However, if you take 2 or 3 1mg xanax daily it could take up to 3-4 weeks for the drug to be undetectable without taking further measures. Marijuana will stay in your system longer than Benzos, Benzos will stay in your system longer than Opiates, and Opiates will stay in your system longer than cocaine. So, if you want to pass a drug screening stop doing drugs first thing.
Once you stop (and you must stop to pass), the number one way to get any drug out of your system is by drinking water and taking Creatine. Creatine is the sole active ingredient in the vast majority of 'proprietary blends' found in 'Urine Luck', 'Test Clean', 'Strip NC', etc. The best way to take it is by purchasing Creatine rather than the test clean because you can take a lot more of it for much less. Also, many times people fail a drug screening because their urine is 'diluted' or has no 'center of gravity'. This usually means their urine lacked Creatinine, which is what the body metabolizes Creatine into.
So, if you want to pass a drug screening step one is to stop doing whatever you think you'll fail for. Step two is to consume plenty of water. And, finally step three is to take Creatine.

Okay, but what if you only did and I hate to say, an extended release between three people and then a half of one between three people, and then another half of one between two people, there was very little there and barely could tell I did it. It was consumed by snorting too. If I drink plenty of water would it be detected in urine test tomorrow, this happened last night so I have all day and night to drink plenty of water. Also is it dangerous to take the creatinine, mine is low anyway and sometimes shows that my test could have been tampered with when I drink lots of water, so is this what the creatinine is for. Any info you can give me would be a tremendous help.

dude i had to go to Detox for Xanex (a 20mg a day habit) and it took me two weeks to get it out of my system. this was about 5 years ago. I recently took 4 bars (8mg) and had it out of my system within a 5 days. Exercise regulaly and drink plenty of fluids. It all depends on the person and your metabolism. I wouldn't suggest it if your a couch potato.
I am on a methadone program and also had a dependacy on xanax. I was required to take a urine test every two weeks until the xanax was completely out of my system and it took a little over 30 days. My couselor showed me the tests everytime and the levels and she could tell that I had stopped taking them because, the levels were decreasing. So for thosae of you who say it is out in 2-3 that really all depends on how much and how often you take them.

Yes, this sounds like an effective weay to beat a drug test but I have been on paper, in jail or in a rehab since I was 19, (Im 25) (I am doing good though now, thanks to the suboxone program) anyhow, this doesn't work very well when the p.o. is staring you down the whole time, makes you pull your pants all the way down, etc.
I have a foolproof way, which is somewhat like yours but also works no matter how "up in your business" the person giving the test is....
1.Get a pill bottle. I found the generic asprin bottles work the best b/c they hold enough piss in case you miss some, are easy to fit and have the best grooves on the top to hold your rubber band in place.
(Sorry I didnt mention this.....only females can do this! lol)
2. fill bottle with clean urine. (Trust the source, why go through the trouble to pop a dirty urine!)
3. get a piece of aluminum foil, double it. (no more than 2 layers! 1 will be too risky of popping before youre ready, and 3 will be difficult to puncture.) (In a pinch you can use saran wrap or a sandwich baggie, but I strongly suggest tin foil because it is easier to pop and you wont look so akward trying to pop a thick baggie)
4. take the tin foil and place it over the top of the filled bottle, and kinda cup the foil down over the edges so the top is covered and you can see the indent of the circle of the bottle.
5. take a thick rubberband (thicker is better b/c of breaking or slipping) and wrap it around the foil. (this is where the deep grooves of the bottle come in handy).
(you should have a bit of excess foil around the bottles top after the rubberband is on)
6. Cut the excess foil off, but not too close to the rubberband. You'll want to use this excess foil to fill in the little gap between the grooves and the body of the bottle.
(obviously the next step is to scrunch the foil up filling in the gap. Just do it in mind that you dont want anything to leak. Not only will you look like you pissed yourself but when it comes time to take the test, you'll be out! AND screwed!)
7. Next take electrical tape (Ive done this for years, use electrical tape, it works best), and tightly wrap it around the bottle where the foil meets the bottle. Dont cover any part of the top, just at the rim of the bottle down past the gap that you filled with foil.
(the bottle should be good now, if done properly. If, when tipping it over and LIGHTLY squeezing it, it doesnt leak, youre golden)
8. Lastly you gotta swallow your pride and "boof" the bottle. (If you need to ask what boofing it is, you probably need to stop doing things that require you to fake piss tests! If you really dont know, ask someone! Im sure theyll laugh at you and then tell you! :)
(The temp inside your body will warm the pee to the right temp and it doesnt have to be in there for that long either, I used to put it in right before I went to the p.o.'s office, which was only 10 min away and mine was the right temp).

The highest milligram & you take 4 every 6 hours 1 week before your drug test okay this isn't all. Either apple cider vinegar or the plain, the whole bottle throughout the day or 16 ounces of pickle juice every day. You also must make sure you drink 1 gallon of water a day. This will flush you completely out. Now that niacin will make you have a flushing feeling & may make you itch & nauseated but after a week of taking it once it all stops then you know your body is conpletely clean & you will pass your drug screen of all they will be testing you for. Of course you must know during that time you must hold of on taking anything until after your drug test is done. Let me know. I have never failed one yet & did everything on here but I chose to drink the pickle juice.

Now if you are an exteremly heavy THC smoker that smokes more than a nickel bag a day every day for years then you need to double what I wrote up above because the longer you smoke it the longer it stays in your system. You will stll pass if you abstain for 1 week & double up what I mentioned above. So far 29 of my friends have passed using my remedy.Many of them had benzos, opiates, THC, as well as many other numerous drugs in their system so what does this tell you. The Niacin will suck. One had to go to the hospital because they had a severe reaction but waited four days later after telling me he took 20 at one time( what an idiot) then they told him why they were doing it then when his blood work came back the was clean of all drugs then. The hospital thought he taken had an overdose on something else so they did a complete bloodworkup including a drugscreen. So yes it worked!!!

You can flood your system with water no matter wat is in ur system drink atleast 1 gallon of water 2 to 3 hours before u go take ur test an make sure ur urine is clear an u pee 6 to 7 times before u go an also going every 5 mins or less..
According to the probation department in my county Xanax stays in your system for up to five days following short term use. Up to 14 if you have been taking a lot of it or for a long time. As far as dilution goes there are a number of different factors that play into that. Creatinine levels are usually measured as part of the determination. You must take a creatine supplement at least 24-48 hours before your test. This is the time your body takes to metabolise it into creatitine. Another factor measured is the specific gravity of your sample. The specific gravity must be greater than 1.003. Essentially this is a measure of the salt in your urine. If you are drinking a lot of water to try and dilute you should take a salt pill or comsume extra salt to couteract this effect. Drinking gatorade instead of water will also work. In addition, some places will reject your sample based on the color. If you drink extra water your urine will not have that yellow tint. To couteract this take about 10x the daily value of vitamins B-6 and B-12 a couple of hours before your test. In determining a valid sample temperature is also checked but if its coming from your body this should be alright. Finally IGg levels, a normal human hormone excreation is oftentimes also checked. Not really sure if this level alone with cause a dilute sample although you may be retested. Good luck.

My friend takes xanax regularly and he has to take a urine drug test which is sent off to a lab at least once a month. He stops taking xanax four days before the test and he has always passed so far, knock on wood. He takes at least two a day, if not more up until the four days before the drug test. Drinking a lot of water helps as well. So good luck to me, my friend, and anyone else who hopes benzos won't show up in a drug test.

I've been all through this site and can't find any type of response or inquiry like what I have.
I've got to take a piss test for a promotion at my job in a few days but have a 1mg per day prescription to Xanax and have been steadily taking it for one month now. Last night, I took 8mg of it and like a dumbass and got drunk. My concern is when I take my piss test in about 4 maybe 5 days max,do I need to be conerned that the Xanax will show up in higher concentrations? From what I hear it's the type of test where you piss in a cup, they spin the piss in some machine and then pass or fail you. Do the labs even look for amounts or is is just a cutoff amount that flags you as a pass/fail? Do I even need to even need to be worried amounts the amount? If so, i can obviously I can pass since I have a prescription, but the question is if I don't take anymore after taking it for four-five days straight, should I be good ? Like, will it show a lower concentration where I will not appear to be an abuser and can justify the xanax showing up on a 1mg per day prescription. No bull shit answer or replys to this please.
In addition, just want you all to know that Xanax does have a purpose if you take it right. It's good to use as a short term fix to anxiety. Once you start abusing it is when you screw yourself. I used to be hooked on these when I was younger and almost killed myself over it. If you have absolutely must be a rebel or need some type of "way to get away", smoke pot.
Xanex will stay in your system 3 to 5 days max. Trust me I was on probation for 2 years and took xanex all the time. Never tested positive. Just wait 5 days before fast and drink lots of water & Gatorade. And workout. Break a sweat. And you will pass.

Warning you must still dring 2-3 bottles of water & your 16 ounces of pickle juice before you go in unless of course choose the whole bottle of vinegar. You shoud be flushed after the 7th day of Niacin. Once ypu no longer have no flushing feeling or it subsides shall I say, your system is free & clear.

I am amazed at some of the answers I've read here.
1st of all if you are giving an answer based on what you've read on the internet then realize that while the net has tons of great info, it is completely open and therefore it's content and "answers" should be taken as lightly as helium.
This is what I can tell you from personal experience:
A: To the severity that they test is situational dependent.
B: Question, how long can a drug test pick up on Benzos????? If you took a .5 3 nights ago then the test will pick it up but it will probably be within "acceptable levels".
On the other hand, and this is just a little tongue wetter here, but alcohol (ie beer consumption) can be detected in a urinalysis for up to 5 to 7 days now. That's not the police sobriety breathalyser test but a 7 panel test.
What that means for benzo takers is that it will be detected in your system for a LONG while (think +-30 days) if they test for it.... and more and more places are testing for it these days. So if you are prescribed a benzo then of course, no problem..... unless your job requires you to do things that would put you and your coworkers in compromising positions due to your medication use.... ie forklift driver... etc...
If you do not, however, have a prescription for xanax or valium or kpins or whatever kind of benzo you might have "accidentaly" taken 7 of a few days ago you may very well be screwed. Then again you may be lucky but either way you won't know until they either do or don't call you to tell you you passed or failed. Lucky if you do.... expect not to if you've taken more than .5mgs in the last couple of days...

Can somebody answer me if they will still accept that scrip if i fail for benzos.I mean i was perscribed them for a while in my name legally. Everyone has a different chemical make up in there body. Depending on your metabolism. If your metabolism works slow then it takes longer to get out of your system (specifically urine) ; probably up too do for 2 to there weeks maybe longer lets for a chronic user. when i was taking xanax daily for anxiety i would take about 5-10 mgs a day for about 2 to 3 weeks, and for the past 3 weeks without taking anymore i am still coming up hott for benzos, altho it said it takes 2-5 days to clear out what really matters is how much you take because if you take alot it WILL take atleast a month to clear out depending on various usuage. I take 1.5mg. per day, in 1mg. XR and .5mg XR. I have taken it for several years. I can say without reservation that it is the only "front line" drug that has ever extinguished my GAD and panic attacks with a high degree of efficacy, probably well over 90%. Cymbalta put me on a ceiling. I have run through all the standard anti-depressants. The only thing that ever worked better was Serzone, which was pulled years ago for safety reasons and never came back.
As I understand it, the risk for abuse is there. I will also have to deal with rebound issues if I titrate off of it. That's life. I don't drink alcohol or use recreational drugs, in any amount. I have not drank since 1996, so I don't feel as though I am distorting the efficacy or legal intention of this product.
My dose has actually decreased from 2mg. per day to 1.5mg. per day. I am very stable at that dose and do not "watch the clock" for my evening dose, etc. I think that I am fortunate in that regard. I do put up with the minor side effects such as memory issues and dry mouth. Actually, at 2mg. per day, those effects became noticeable and began to creep towards the area of impairment. I have never had a serious reaction. My liver functions are tested regularly and stay in the normal range.
For me, Xanax ER was best split inot an AM and PM dose, so I would say that for me I need to keep the plasma levels stable and therapeutic by dosing every 12 hours.
I hope by "split into AM and PM dose" you mean take a whole tablet for each dose.
The package insert for Xanax XR specifically states "The tablets should be taken intact; they should not be chewed, crushed, or broken."
To split a tablet eliminates the pill's extended-release design, causing the user to receive the entire dose as if they had taken the immediate-release version.

Your total daily Xanax dose timing basically provides a 36 hr half life. That means day 1's second dose is still active when you take day 2's first dose.
This is pretty much identical to the half life of clonazepam, which is available much more cheaply because unlike Xanax XR, it comes in a generic. Clonazepam can also be split if necessary since its 36 hr half life is part of the drug's composition without requiring added buffers and time-release agents to create the XR feature of Xanax.

I suffer from panic disorder. Since getting cancer my doctor has prescribed me xanax to be taken as needed. I think it’s called PCN. In any case it usually takes me at least 6 months to use a 30 pill Rx. I take .5mg of xanax as much as one or 2 times a week and no more. I'm afraid of getting addicted to it. Just having the bottle calms me when I feel an anxiety attack coming.
I have never once felt any kind of high from xanax. Maybe that is because I'm a 6'1" 230 pound male on such a small dose. I never want to feel that way.
With that said I have wondered just for the sake of wondering how long it stays in my system. I have nothing to hide. The brain generates thoughts. One of mine is how long this drug stays in my body.
