Q: 1st time doing this, so bear w/me please. I really need some advice here.

Anxiety Level at highest level.  I got a new Psychiatrist and met w/her the other day, I have had one for 2.5 yrs and a counselor for 4yrs.  This new one, said NO more valiums for the anxiety, I said what!!!- I said I have been on Kolonopin, Lorazapam and now Valium for 15 yers. I thought OMG, how do u stop something that has taken away/helped your panic attacks and anxiety for years, now what, she said " drink benadril", and  She said, the mix of drugs that I am on , can not be done, I called my pharmacist and he said there is nothing in the FDA regarding this combination.

Anyways, stress building, I have MEN1 syndrome I found this out when I turned 40 that I have a genetic disorder and no one in my family knew we did.  I worked all my life and now they say, you can't work anymore, (5yrs ago they said that), I was devastated

so to speak,  I went into a Major Depression, really bad, I was no longer the person I once was.  And that scared me and made me mad, hurt, sad, and scared and more... the MEN 1 Syndrome, produces tumors and  effects the Pancreas, Pituitary and Parathyroids I had surgery 4 yrs ago 2 remove all parathyroids, and again on the pancreas because MEN1, gives u tumors.  I had the tail of the pancreas removed due to a growing tumor.  so, I really am trying to make this as short as possible.

I have been doing pretty good, and then 4 months ago, I noticed me getting sick again and thought OMG< not now, and I just got blood test back, another tumor, chromogranin A 475, then jumped w/in 30 days 2 1785, if u know what that means, i have another tumor, but they can't find it, and now, my Anemia is worse than ever, I have become vita-B12 Deficient, Vt d deficient, bone marrow producing huge red blood cells at an extreme fast rate.  I have major chronic pain, due to injuries and disc/nerve degeneration/disease.  I have MCD/GAD, and she took away my Valiums, OMG, i am so stressed out, and now I noticed some sores on my legs, never b4. The pain is so bad, every day/everynight back to leg and knee left side. If anyone out there knows what this sounds like (some 1 mentioned a lymphoid problem???  I hope some 1 can give me some advice or tell me what they think is wrong w/me?
Thanks 4 your patience reading this

Thank you for your question and welcome to AnxietyConnection.com.

What a difficult time you must be having in your life. You say this is genetic but no one knew about it, and it suddenly appeared? How awful it must be for you.

As far as your psychiatrist, if you are not happy with what the doctor said, you should be able to seek out a second opinion. If you have insurance, you may want to check with your insurance company to find out if certain procedures must be followed to have the second opinion paid for.

Many doctors believe it is good to wean you off medications, such as Valium, instead of going off all at once.

It would be worth discussing your situation with a different doctor to find out whether he or she agrees with this doctor's assessment.

Let me know what happens.

I'm so sorry that you've had to go through this and can imagine your panic at having the Valium taken away.  I'm not a doctor, but was wondering if your medical condition might be contributing to your depression since it involves hormone-producing organs and perhaps the doctor you are seeing to treat this might be able to help you, or at least consult with your psychiatrist about your need for these.  If that doesn't work, I would certainly try to find another psychiatrist - it doesn't sound like she gave you a good enough explanation of why you need to go off the Valium.  Does she understand your illness at all?  Please don't give up, keep fighting for what you need.  It's probably very discouraging, but it's your health, your body and you deserve to get the best treatment you can.  I hope you'll let us know how you're doing.  I wish you all the best.
